JOY: Former Warriors star Khama Billiat to wear jersey number 12 at Dynamos

Dynamos Football Club has made a bold statement about their ambitions for 2024 by securing the signing of former Warriors star Khama Billiat. The 33-year-old forward has been without a team since his contract with South African giants Kaizer Chiefs expired in June last year.

Billiat rejected a contract renewal from Kaizer Chiefs due to substantial wage reductions, and despite reported interest from other clubs such as SuperSport, Cape Town City, and Richards Bay, he failed to secure a new club across the Limpopo.

However, the flamboyant forward is now set to return to Zimbabwe and join Dynamos Football Club. According to Zimpapers Sport, Billiat is expected to arrive in the country and finalize the deal, with all terms, including his salary, agreed upon. It is believed that Billiat’s salary will be the highest in the league by a significant margin. If all goes well, he could be available to play in Dynamos’ season-opening Castle Challenge Cup match against Ngezi Platinum Stars on February 24.

A source at Dynamos revealed that the deal with Billiat is almost done and that the player himself reached out to the club earlier in the week. Jersey Number 12 has been assigned to Billiat, who will bring his wealth of experience, including winning the CAF Champions League with Mamelodi Sundowns in 2016, to help Dynamos in their CAF Confederation Cup campaign this year. Dynamos, who last won the league title in 2014, will also be looking to Billiat to bolster their chances of reclaiming the title.

In addition to Billiat, another former Warriors teammate, Kuda Mahachi, is reportedly interested in joining Dynamos. Mahachi, who had successful stints with Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport in South Africa, was recently released by Ghana Premiership side Medeama. He is said to be in contact with Dynamos officials and negotiations between the parties have been approved. Mahachi is expected to visit Harare from his base in Bulawayo, and if everything goes according to plan, he could reunite with Billiat at Dynamos.

This potential signing of two former Warriors wingers will provide Dynamos with much-needed firepower and depth in their squad. The team has been lacking outstanding goal-scorers and the addition of Billiat, one of the best-scoring wingers on the continent, could significantly boost their chances of success. Furthermore, Mahachi’s experience and skills will further strengthen their attacking options. Dynamos will be hoping that these signings help them achieve their goals of winning the league title and making an impact in the CAF Confederation Cup.
