Zimbabwe midfield marvel Marvellous Nakamba is set to return to Luton Town on a permanent basis after cutting ties with struggling Aston Villa.
The Hatters gave a big hint of Nakamba’s impending move with a joking tweet saying “Du Du Du du du, Nakamba” – referring to their famous chant for the player.
The Marvelous Nakamba Foundation also hinted at a transfer by posting an image of Nakamba in Luton’s colours with the caption “The journey continues”.
According to reports, the deal is imminent and Nakamba – who starred on loan last season to help Luton gain promotion to the Premier League – is the Hatters’ number one target.
The 29-year-old played 20 games after joining Luton in January, winning the Player of the Month award for March and scoring in a crucial comeback win over Blackpool.
Nakamba joined Villa in 2019 but has fallen down the pecking order and is not part of new manager Unai Emery’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
So a return to Kenilworth Road where he achieved hero status last season seems the perfect solution for the Zimbabwean wonder, as he looks to prove himself once again at the Championship club.
