Reports have surfaced that former Zimbabwe cricket captain Heath Streak has been diagnosed with Stage 4 colon and liver cancer.

According to sources close to Streak, the 49-year-oldall-rounder is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa.

While details remain limited, Streak’s friend and current Zimbabwe cricketer Sean Williams confirmed that Streak’s family has been called to be with him in South Africa. Though Streak responded to a message, his family is requesting privacy at this difficult time.

Streak is Zimbabwe’s highest Test and ODI wicket-taker of all time. However, his cricket career came to an early end after he received an 8-year ban in 2021 for corruption charges which he denied.

In an official statement, Streak’s family has asked for privacy as the former cricket captain receives treatment from an oncologist. While thanking people for their prayers and good wishes, they stressed their desire for privacy.

Joseph Rego, a friend of Streak who is authorized to speak on behalf of the family on Streak’s condition, said any further news about Streak’s health should be considered rumor for now.

Our thoughts are with Heath Streak and his family during this challenging time. We wish him strength on his road to recovery from this serious illness.
