Tragic drowning incident claims life of 2-year-old girl in Epworth
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 2-year-old girl has tragically died after drowning in a well in the Overspill area of Epworth. The incident, which occurred on June 15th, 2024, around 10:00 AM, has left the community devastated.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), the young victim was playing outside her home while her mother was cooking inside, when she fell into a well that was approximately six meters deep.
Police confirmed the incident on their X handle. “The ZRP reports a sad incident in which a girl (2) drowned in a well, approximately six metres deep, whilst her mother was cooking in the house in Overspill, Epworth on 15/06/24 at around 1000 hours.
“The body of the victim was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital mortuary for post mortem,” reads the statement.
