In a disturbing case of ƨǝxuɑl violence, a 22-year-old man from Nyamapipi village in Karoi, Zimbabwe, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the brutal rape of a young woman.
The convicted rapist, whose identity was withheld to protect the victim’s privacy, was brought before the Karoi Magistrates’ Court to face the heinous charges. The incident occurred on June 9th, 2024, in the Nyamapipi village area.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the 22-year-old victim had gone to the accused’s residence to collect payment for clothes she had previously sold. As she was making her way home, the court heard how the assailant began trailing behind her, prompting the young woman to start running and calling out for help.
In a horrifying turn of events, the accused man managed to catch up to the victim, seizing her by the neck and dragging her into a nearby bush. There, the court was told, the attacker proceeded to choke the woman until she lost consciousness.
When the victim regained consciousness, she discovered semen on her underwear, but the assailant had already fled the scene. The young woman immediately reported the incident to her mother, who in turn notified the police, leading to the arrest of the perpetrator.
The prosecution was able to successfully convict the 22-year-old man, resulting in a sentence of 15 years in prison.
