In a disturbing turn of events, a 32-year-old man from Odzi, Zimbabwe has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the rape of his 12-year-old step-daughter.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident occurred on May 18th, 2024. The complainant, along with her three younger siblings aged 7, 5, and 3, were left in the care of the accused when their mother went to work. The accused person told the complainant that he wanted to pray for her since she was not going to school. He took the complainant to the bush where he raped her once.
After the horrific act, the man told the child that the “ritual” was complete, and they returned home. It was the complainant’s brother who noticed her crying, prompting the young girl to reveal what had happened.
The accused was swiftly arrested and brought before the Mutare Magistrates’ Court, where he was found guilty of rape and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
