In a horrifying turn of events, police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for the perpetrators behind a brazen house robbery and kidnapping incident that occurred in the Lambani area on Monday, just after midnight.
The chilling ordeal unfolded when a woman, who was at home with her sibling and a one-month-old infant, stepped outside to use the restroom. As she made her way back inside, she was approached by two unknown men who demanded money.
One of the assailants reportedly struck the woman on the head with a sharp object and tied her up with a rope. The second suspect then proceeded to ransack the house, stealing an undisclosed amount of cash, a cellphone, and the victims’ bank cards.
The harrowing incident took an even more tragic turn when the suspects allegedly snatched the sleeping infant from the bed and fled the scene, leaving the distraught mother behind. The woman’s sibling, who had witnessed the ordeal, immediately raised the alarm, prompting a frantic search by community members.
Fortunately, the baby was found abandoned in the nearby bushes and safely returned to the mother. The victims were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the Limpopo provincial police spokesperson, has appealed to the public for any information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects.
