Tragic Turn of Events: Gokwe man arraigned for alleged murder of girlfriend’s acquaintance
In a disturbing incident, Jimmy Kambiyata, a 34-year-old resident of Muzvuvagumbo Village in Gokwe, has been arraigned before the Kadoma Magistrates’ Court on murder charges.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the charges against Kambiyata are defined under Section 47 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
The state alleges that on May 28th, 2024, at around 10:00 PM, Kambiyata used his girlfriend’s cell phone to lure the now-deceased Blessing Scott Kamwise to their home, harbouring suspicions of an affair between Kamwise and his girlfriend.
Upon Kamwise’s arrival, Kambiyata is said to have waylaid and confined him within the house, where he allegedly stabbed the victim once in the neck and once in the back, leading to Kamwise’s death. The knife used as the murder weapon was recovered from Kambiyata’s residence.
Kambiyata has been remanded in custody until June 24th, 2024, as the legal proceedings continue.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe encourages members of the public to refrain from resorting to violence and instead seek amicable resolutions or third-party mediation when faced with disputes.
This tragic incident serves as a sobering reminder of the consequences of uncontrolled emotions and the importance of seeking constructive solutions to personal conflicts.
