Tragic road accident claims seven lives on Harare-Nyamapanda Road

In a devastating incident along the Harare-Nyamapanda Road, a fatal road traffic accident occurred, resulting in the loss of seven lives and injuries to five others. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) issued a press statement confirming the tragic event that unfolded on 11th June 2024 at approximately 1625 hours at the 120-kilometre peg.

The accident was triggered when the right front tyre of a Toyota Quantum vehicle suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off the road, colliding with a tree.

FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENT AT THE 120 KILOMETRE PEG ALONG HARARE-NYAMAPANDA ROAD

The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 120 kilometre peg along Harare—Nyamapanda Road on 11th June 2024 at around 1625 hours. Seven people were killed whilst five others were injured when a right front tyre of a Toyota Quantum vehicle burst resulting in the vehicle veering off the road and hitting a tree. The vehicle was travelling towards Harare.

Five of the seven victims were identified by their next of kin as listed:-

➢ Michael Mugandani (36), a male adult. •
➢Innocent Nyamukondiwa (37), a male adult.
➢ Edith Musorowembudzi (36), a female adult.
➢ Dumisani Mutsawa (33), a male adult.
➢ Mabhebhe Chingamuka (6), a female juvenile.

The remaining two victims are yet to be identified by their next of kin. The injured victims are admitted at Murewa District Hospital whilst the bodies of the victims were taken to Mutoko Hospital mortuary for post mortem.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that motorists should observe stipulated speed limits and abide by the road rules and regulations in-order to save human lives.
