In a deeply troubling turn of events, a 35-year-old man from Chief Seke’s area in Dema has been convicted of indecent assault charges. The accused, a member of an apostolic sect, targeted his own neighbour in a heinous act of abuse.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, the incident unfolded on February 1st, 2024, when the perpetrator approached the unsuspecting victim and claimed to have seen something concerning him in the spiritual realm. Under the guise of needing to pray for the victim, the accused lured the man to his house.
Once inside, the accused’s true intentions became clear. He ordered the victim to sit on the bed and proceeded to play porn0graphic videos on his phone. The horror continued as the accused began touching the victim’s manhood, demanding that the victim remain silent.
The vicious assault escalated as the accused forcibly took the victim’s hand and placed it on his own manhood. Undeterred, the perpetrator then removed his clothes and began rubbing his manhood against the victim’s, even going so far as to pull down the victim’s shorts.
The accused’s depraved acts only ceased when the victim’s phone rang, providing a brief moment of respite. The victim seized the opportunity, grabbing the house keys on the floor and fleeing the scene. However, the accused pursued the victim, instructing him to tell his mother that they were simply praying.
Traumatized, the victim returned home and recounted the horrific ordeal to his mother, who promptly reported the incident to the authorities. The accused was swiftly arrested and arraigned before the Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Court, where he was convicted of the indecent assault charges. He was remanded in custody awaiting sentencing.
