In a disturbing turn of events, the Zimbabwean Republic Police (ZRP) has issued a stern warning to the public, particularly women, against consulting self-styled prophets or traditional healers at secluded locations for spiritual healing.

This caution comes in the wake of a recent case of rape, where a 26-year-old woman was ƨǝxuɑlly abused by a self-proclaimed prophet during an alleged spiritual healing session at a shrine in Dzivarasekwa 3.

The incident, which occurred during the first week of May 2024, has once again highlighted the vulnerability of individuals who seek spiritual guidance and healing from unscrupulous individuals masquerading as religious or traditional practitioners.

The police have emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious or criminal activities to the nearest police station, as this is crucial in combating such crimes and protecting vulnerable members of the community.

This latest incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for increased public awareness and tighter regulations governing the activities of religious and traditional practitioners. The ZRP’s warning underscores the ongoing efforts to combat the exploitation of individuals seeking spiritual guidance and to ensure that justice is served for the victims of such abhorrent crimes.
