Shocking domestic abuse ends in tragedy: Woman tortured for hours by husband
In a horrifying turn of events, a Nyanga man stands accused of brutally torturing his wife to death over suspicions of infidelity. Farai Michael Madotsa, 41, from Chihobvu village under Chief Saunyama, has been charged with murder after allegedly subjecting his wife Penelope Yeukai Nyabanga to a prolonged and savage assault.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority, the incident unfolded on the evening of May 28th, 2024. Madotsa reportedly became enraged after hearing a cellphone ringing outside the couple’s bedroom, sparking accusations of his wife’s infidelity. When confronted, Nyabanga supposedly confessed to the affair and even showed her husband the location where she met her boyfriend, including unused cond0ms.
Madotsa is then alleged to have launched a horrific assault, ordering his wife to lie face-down on the ground before beating her with a log. Prosecutors state that the vicious attack continued for nearly an hour, with Madotsa intermittently pouring water on his wife. The accused is said to have then dragged Nyabanga’s unconscious body into the bedroom, leaving her on the cold floor where she ultimately died.
Madotsa has been remanded in custody as the case proceeds through the Nyanga Magistrates’ Court.
