Gokwe police probe mysterious death of man after dispute with son-in-law
Police in Gokwe have launched an investigation into a suspected murder case after the body of 63-year-old Odent Matikiti was discovered near Kana Primary School, bearing a swelling on the left ear.
According to police reports, Matikiti was last seen engaged in a heated argument with his son-in-law, Stanley Nkomo, during a drinking session. The dispute was allegedly sparked by Matikiti’s demand for the payment of his daughter’s bride price, or lobola, from Nkomo.
The circumstances surrounding Matikiti’s death remain unclear, and police are working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the tragic incident.
The discovery of Matikiti’s body has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising concerns about the need for greater conflict resolution mechanisms within families to prevent such tragic outcomes.
