In a concerning turn of events, two men from the Chief Zimunya area in Mutare have been sentenced for their involvement in a robbery that stemmed from a ƨǝx work scam. Givemore Majave, 22, and a 17-year-old minor were arraigned before the Mutare Magistrates’ Court, facing charges of robbery.
The incident took place on March 5th, 2024, at around 2:30 PM. According to court records, the accused individuals had colluded with a woman named Linnety Munharaunda, who is still at large, to rob the complainant, Misheck Ndoro, 44.
The report states that Linnety Munharaunda, posing as a ƨǝx worker, lured the unsuspecting Ndoro to her roomfor her services. While they were busy like rabbits having lula lula, the two accused individuals allegedly burst into the room, claiming that Ndoro was being intimate with the 17-year-old’s wife.
In the ensuing commotion, Linnety Munharaunda began pleading for forgiveness from the 17-year-old, while Givemore Majave is said to have struck Ndoro twice in the chest with a wooden stick, before kicking him multiple times all over his body. The accused then allegedly took US$160 from Ndoro and chased him out of the house.
The total value stolen items was US$160, and none of it was recovered. The accused individuals were sentenced to four years in prison, with three months suspended for five years and a further three months suspended on the condition of restitution.
This troubling incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can arise from engaging in illicit activities.
