Tragic Loss: MSU student’s untimely demise leaves community shaken
In a heartbreaking turn of events, the Gweru community is reeling from the loss of a young life. Roy Muchareva, a final-year student at Midlands State University (MSU), was found dead in his Senga suburb rented house on Saturday, in what appears to be a case of suicide by hanging.
According to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the incident occurred around 4 pm. “I can confirm that police in Senga, Gweru are investigating a suspected suicide case involving a 28-year-old man who died after hanging himself at his place of residence in Senga suburb Gweru on Saturday at around 4pm,” he stated.
The tragic discovery was made by Muchareva’s colleagues, who visited him and found his lifeless body hanging from a window burglar bar, with a black rope around his neck.
The news has sent shockwaves through the MSU community, leaving classmates, professors, and loved ones grappling with the sudden and devastating loss. As the investigation continues, authorities are urging the public to seek counselling and support when faced with challenges, rather than resorting to such drastic measures.
