Beitbridge police crack down on cross-border crimes, seize truckload of illicit goods
In a decisive crackdown on cross-border criminal activities, the Beitbridge police have intercepted and apprehended a suspect transporting a substantial haul of illegally acquired goods.
The operation, dubbed “No to Cross-Border Crimes,” led to the arrest of 35-year-old Shameful Kutadza, who was caught driving a white Mazda T35 vehicle with registration number AGE 5520 along the Beitbridge-Pande Road.
Following a thorough search of the vehicle, the police managed to recover a staggering 11 bales of blankets and 80 cases of various types of beer – all suspected to be part of a larger smuggling operation.
The police have vowed to maintain a robust presence along the border to deter any future attempts at smuggling and other illicit cross-border activities.
