Impersonator Arrested: Bogus police officer apprehended for terrorizing motorists in Harare
A daring incident unfolded on Chinhoyi Street in Harare as a bogus police officer, 21-year-old Munashe Musekiwa, alias Munemo, was apprehended while donning a complete police uniform. Musekiwa, appearing before Harare magistrate Apollonia Marutya, was remanded in custody after being charged with impersonation.
According to court proceedings, the incident took place on Saturday at the intersection of Chinhoyi Street and Robert Mugabe Avenue. Officers from the Police Anti Corruption Unit, who were conducting routine patrols, received a tip-off regarding Musekiwa’s alleged harassment of motorists along Chinhoyi Street.
Acting promptly, the police team identified the suspect, who was unmistakably dressed in full police uniform and wielding a baton stick. The anti-corruption officers intercepted him, and upon closer examination, it was revealed that Musekiwa was an ordinary civilian impersonating a police officer.
Representing the State, Thomas Chanakira presented the case during the court hearing.
