A tragic incident unfolded in Gokwe as a 49-year-old man lost his life after consuming a purported ƨǝx-enhancing concoction given to him by a traditional healer. The healer, Macdonald Ndlovu (49), has been apprehended and is set to face charges of murder.
According to Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, on March 13, Chiedza Mdimuranwa (43) left her husband, Isaac Kabarapate, at their home in Chireya Village under Chief Chireya, Gokwe North, to tend to her garden near Ume River. She returned around 11 AM and was informed by her daughter-in-law that Kabarapate was lying in the nearby bushes, approximately 150 meters from their homestead, experiencing stomach pains.
Mdimuranwa went to check on her husband, who allegedly revealed that he had sought the assistance of traditional healer Ndlovu for a ƨǝxuɑl dysfunction. Kabarapate claimed that after consulting with the healer, he was given a herbal concoction to drink, which subsequently caused severe stomach pains and vomiting of blood.
The following day at around 1 AM, Mdimuranwa and Kabarapate’s brother transported him to Chireya Mission Hospital as his condition worsened. Tragically, Kabarapate passed away en route to the hospital.
Upon receiving the report, the police initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of the traditional healer, Ndlovu, who remains in custody pending further inquiries. Kabarapate’s body was transferred to the United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for a post-mortem examination.
