Tragic Mukumbura Incident: Son fatally beats father to death over dependency dispute
In a tragic incident in Mukumbura, a 62-year-old man named Stanley Tiyago lost his life after being violently attacked by his son, Henry Tiyago (39), following a heated argument over the son’s alleged laziness and reliance on his wife for support.
According to reports, Henry assaulted his father with a wooden log multiple times all over his body, resulting in Stanley’s immediate death.
Assistant Inspector Tonny Nyandoro, the Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson, confirmed the case, stating, “I can confirm a murder case in Kaitano village, Mukumbura where a son, who is said to be mentally challenged assaulted his father to death after the father challenged him to work rather than depend on his wife for survival.”
Nyandoro further explained, “The father called his son lazy, and hell broke loose as the son charged at his father, fatally assaulting him with a log.”
In light of this incident, the police urged individuals living with mentally challenged individuals to closely monitor and ensure timely administration of medication to them.
