A woman is fighting for her life following a horrifying assault by her lover’s wife, who viciously attacked her with a machete. Delia Mukonyora, aged 38, appeared before regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje and was remanded in court with bail considerations scheduled for Thursday.
According to the court proceedings, the incident took place on Saturday in Gutsai Village, Domboshava, under Chief Chinamhora. Mukonyora confronted Ellen Malungisa, a resident of the same village, accusing her of snatching her husband. In a fit of rage, Mukonyora allegedly launched a machete attack on Malungisa, inflicting severe injuries all over her body.
Witnesses at the scene managed to restrain Mukonyora and conducted a citizen’s arrest as Malungisa suffered profuse bleeding from her head and arms. The victim was urgently transported to Parirenyatwa Hospital, where she currently fights for her life.
During the court appearance, Mukonyora was not asked to plead, and the case was adjourned until Thursday to consider bail options.
