Last week, three security guards from Bindura Hospital were sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting a health worker. The guards, Michael Jackson, Denius Saurosi (43), and Charlse Moja, received their sentences from Magistrate Felix Chauromwe.
According to Prosecutor Getrude Mayenyoso, the incident occurred on March 6 when the guards noticed Takunda Tenisi leaving the hospital while carrying his medication. They demanded to see the type of medication he had been given by the doctor, but Tenisi refused to comply.
In response, the guards joined forces and attacked Tenisi, while their actions were captured on camera by fellow hospital workers. The incident was reported to the police, leading to the subsequent arrest of the three guards.
As a result of their actions, Saurosi, Jackson, and Moja were found guilty and received three-year jail sentences for their assault on the health worker. Justice has been served in this case, sending a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated within the healthcare system.
