Tragic Incident: Son fatally beats father for criticizing his laziness
A tragic incident unfolded in Mukumbura as a 62-year-old man lost his life after being brutally beaten by his own son. Stanley Tiyago died on Monday when his son, Henry Tiyago (39), allegedly assaulted him with a wooden log. The motive for the attack stemmed from Stanley scolding Henry for his laziness and dependence on his wife for survival.
The details were confirmed by Mashonaland Central deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Tony Nyandoro, who expressed deep regret over the case. According to Nyandoro, the father had confronted his son, urging him to find work instead of relying solely on his wife for financial support. This confrontation reportedly triggered Henry’s violent response, leading to the fatal assault that took his father’s life.
“I can confirm a murder case in Kaitano village, Mukumbura where a son, who is said to be mentally challenged assaulted his father to death after the father challenged him to work rather than depend on his wife for survival,” Nyandoro said.
“The father called his son lazy and hell broke loose as the son charged on his father there by fatally assaulting him with a log.”
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of closely monitoring and providing timely medication to individuals living with mental health challenges. While Henry is reported to have a mental health condition, it is unclear whether it directly influenced his actions in this particular case.
Authorities are urging the community to take proactive measures in supporting and managing mental health patients, ensuring their well-being and the safety of those around them. This unfortunate event highlights the need for increased awareness and understanding of mental health issues within society.
