Kombi driver arrested for raping a police officer
In a shocking incident, a kombi driver has been apprehended for allegedly raping a female constable. A memo from the Nembudziya Police Station has confirmed the distressing attack that took place on February 13.
According to the report, the accused, identified as Tichaona Chariwa, 37, had met with the victim at Mtora Business Centre. She had requested him to pick her up from her residence and transport her to Kadoma using his kombi.
Around 1am, Chariwa arrived at the complainant’s homestead, where she was still in the process of packing her belongings. She asked him to wait outside while she finished preparing. However, Chariwa allegedly entered her room without permission and approached her from behind, forcefully grabbing her.
The brave police officer managed to push him away and even struck him with an elbow. Chariwa temporarily left the scene but soon returned, forcing his way back into the house. He violently grabbed the victim and pushed her onto the bed, attempting to rape her. Despite her courageous resistance, he overpowered her and committed the heinous act.
The following day, the traumatized constable confided in a colleague about the incident and subsequently filed a formal report with the police.
