A 33-year-old man from Lupane has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for the heinous crime of raping and impregnating his 15-year-old niece. The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) confirmed the details of the case, stating that the incident occurred in January 2023.
According to the NPAZ statement, the accused had asked his niece to fetch water and bring it to him. However, upon her return, he forcefully took her to his bedroom, undressed her, and raped her. Shockingly, the incident remained undisclosed for a year until the victim gave birth. It was only on February 6, 2024, that she reported the ƨǝxuɑl assault to the police.
The court, recognizing the gravity of the crime committed, handed down a severe punishment, with the man receiving a 15-year prison sentence for his abhorrent actions.
