A man driving a Mazda Premacy and carrying six passengers died on the spot and one of his passengers died on admission to Zhombe Hospital after the vehicle burst a tyre along Gokwe-Kwekwe Road.
Midlands Police Spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the accident that happened on Monday.
Elliott Chuma (36) died on the spot and Watunga George Mkarati (59) died upon admission to hospital.
Chuma lost control of the vehicle after that tyre burst, veered off the road and it overturned several times. The car was travelling from Gokwe to Kwekwe.
“Two people died and five others escaped with varying injuries. The accident occurred at the 69km peg along Kwekwe-Gokwe road at about 4:30 pm.
“We appeal to motorists to exercise due care, diligence and avoid speeding. Ensure road worthiness of vehicles before embarking on a journey,” said Inspector Mahoko. Mirror.
