ED Mnangagwa appoints Air Vice Marshal John Jacob Nzvede as new air force commander, retires Elson Moyo

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced the appointment of Air Vice Marshal John Jacob Nzvede as the new commander of the Air Force of Zimbabwe, effective from March 15. The announcement was made by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Martin Rushwaya.

Nzvede will be taking over from Air Marshal Elson Moyo, who has been retired from his position. Nzvede is well-known for being seated next to the late Sibusiso Moyo, then Major General, during the announcement of the military coup in November 2017.

In addition to the appointment of Nzvede, President Mnangagwa has also appointed Christopher Pamhidza Pasi as the Health Service Commission secretary. Pasi holds an impressive academic background, with qualifications including a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, a Masters in Medicine, a diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, and is a fellow of the College of Physicians of Central and East Africa.

Until his recent promotion, Pasi served as the chief medical officer at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
