Local pastor’s Honda Fit stolen after running out of fuel
In an unfortunate turn of events, a local pastor had his Honda Fit stolen after leaving it parked at a residence in Stoneridge Park when it ran out of fuel on Tuesday night. Pastor Taurai Tembo, aged 38, from Rise and Shine Ministries, sought the assistance of 44-year-old Joseph Musasa, who allowed him to leave the vehicle at his house while promising to return the following day.
According to the report, Pastor Tembo took precautions by removing the battery from the vehicle and securing all the doors and windows, except for one broken window. He entrusted the battery to Musasa and departed, expecting to retrieve his car the next day.
However, upon Pastor Tembo’s return on the following day, he was met with a shocking discovery – his car was nowhere to be found. Concerned and realizing that his vehicle had been stolen, he promptly reported the incident to the local police.
Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, the Harare provincial police spokesperson, confirmed that an investigation into the theft of the vehicle in Stoneridge Park is underway.
“Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle in Stoneridge Park,” said Insp Chakanza.
“Complainant switched off the ignition, removed the battery from the vehicle and locked all the doors and windows except for one window which was broken.
“On February 21 at around 11am, the complainant went back to the house intending to collect his vehicle, but when he arrived, he noticed that it was not there.
“He phoned the house owner about the whereabouts of his vehicle and was told that he thought he had taken his vehicle,” said Insp Chakanza.
The car’s value was stated as US$3 000.
