Tragedy unfolded at Blue Mountain Farm in Vumba as a farmer allegedly resorted to deadly violence, fatally assaulting his employee with a log. The incident occurred after a dispute erupted between two employees over a chair. The accused, Whisper Shenje, owns the farm where the shocking incident took place.
Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, confirmed the murder and provided details of the disturbing events. The victim, Simon Zororo Chipare, a 42-year-old man from Manica, Mozambique, suffered severe injuries, including bruises on his right leg, stomach, and chest, as well as deep cuts to the back of his head. Chipare’s lifeless body was discovered the following morning, covered with a blanket under a shed on the farm.
According to Assistant Inspector Chinyoka, the altercation began when Chipare and another employee, Shanty Dumba, engaged in a physical confrontation over a chair. Shenje intervened, expressing his disapproval of the petty dispute. However, instead of diffusing the situation, Shenje took matters into his own hands, grabbing a log and assaulting both Chipare and Dumba.
The next day, Chipare’s lifeless body was found by Tino Jayiro at the back of the farmhouse. Jayiro promptly informed Busiso Mhlanga, who contacted the police. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered Chipare’s body, which bore visible signs of violence, including bruises and deep cuts. Adjacent to the body lay a bloodstained log measuring 1.5 meters. Chipare’s remains were transported to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
Dumba, who also suffered injuries as a result of the assault, experienced bruises and complained of back pain. Meanwhile, Shenje, the alleged assailant, fled the scene and remains at large. Police are appealing to the public for any information that can assist in his apprehension. Assistant Inspector Chinyoka emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and urged individuals not to resort to violence, as it can lead to tragic loss of life. The police are committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice and ensuring that the sanctity of life is respected.
