Armed robber shot dead after exchanging gunfire with police on Valentine’s Day

On Valentine’s Day, a suspected armed robber was killed by the police in Masvingo during a shoot-out at Ngundu Business Centre.

The deceased suspect, identified as Pardon Shoko (36) from Runyararo West suburb in Masvingo, died at Ngundu Clinic after being shot in the shoulder by a team of detectives who were tracking him and two other members of his notorious gang. The other gang members were identified as Brian Jazi (36) from Gimboki area, Dangamvura in Mutare, and Joseph Makuvise (43) from Makuvise village under Chief Mataruse in Gutu.

Makuvise and Jazi were apprehended by the police after Shoko was killed, and a pistol with two live rounds, which Shoko had used during the shoot-out, was recovered.

According to the Masvingo police, the trio had been on the police’s radar for a series of armed robberies in and around Masvingo City. Three cases were solved as a result of the arrest of Makuvise and Jazi.

The police intercepted the suspects as they were reportedly heading to Chiredzi for another potential robbery, unaware that they were being pursued.
