Mbare motorist appears in court for assaulting City Parking employee

Bruce Kumurai (28), a motorist from the Mbare suburb of Harare, has made a court appearance on assault charges after allegedly striking a City Parking employee with a stone on the forehead. The incident unfolded when Kumurai’s car was clamped by the employee, identified as Tafadzwa Kanyimo.

Kumurai appeared before Harare magistrate Mrs Ethel Chichera, who remanded him until today pending the submission of a medical affidavit for the injured employee.

According to the State’s allegations, the incident occurred on Friday at approximately 3:40 pm near the intersection of First Street Mall and Nelson Mandela Avenue in Harare’s city center. Kanyimo, carrying out his duties, clamped a Honda Fit with registration number AFF 2777.

In response, Kumurai removed the clamp from his vehicle and drove away. However, he returned a short while later, wielding a stone in his hand. Kumurai allegedly struck Kanyimo on the forehead with the stone and proceeded to punch him multiple times in the face.

As a result of the assault, Kanyimo sustained a cut on his forehead and sought medical examination. He promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to Kumurai’s subsequent arrest.
