Domboshava man remanded after allegedly stabbing friend over stolen phone
In a shocking incident that unfolded in Domboshava, a small town in Zimbabwe, a man identified as Douglas Tafirenyika is currently facing charges of attempted murder. Tafirenyika stands accused of stabbing his friend, Simbarashe Pedzisayi, after accusing him of stealing his mobile phone. The incident, which occurred on February 3 at a local bar, has sent shockwaves through the community.
He was remanded out of custody until March 7 after being granted US$100 by Harare magistrate Donald Ndirowei. The accused faces severe charges related to attempted murder.
According to the prosecution, Tafirenyika confronted his friend, Simbarashe Pedzisayi, inside the bar, claiming that Pedzisayi had stolen his mobile phone. Anger boiled over as Tafirenyika allegedly slapped Pedzisayi twice across the face before chasing him outside. It was there, in the midst of the tense confrontation, that the accused reportedly attacked Pedzisayi with a sharp object.
Pedzisayi suffered a stab wound to his face, and his hands were repeatedly targeted in the assault. Pedzisayi promptly reported the incident to the police, leading to Tafirenyika’s subsequent arrest.
