In a shocking incident at Tshapho business center in Domboshava village, Matopo, a woman with a curvaceous figure found herself on the receiving end of a violent assault after engaging in a fling with a married man. Sanelisiwe Ncube (33) was left in agonizing pain and unable to sit properly when Siduduzile Ndlovu (37), the man’s wife, targeted her with a knife, stabbing her twice in the buttocks and once in the thigh.

The confrontation unfolded on December 3 of last year, as Ncube was enjoying a drink at the bar. Ndlovu approached her and caused a scene, hurling insults and accusations of an illicit affair with her husband. Tempers quickly escalated, leading to a chaotic situation.

Faced with an urgent need to answer nature’s call, Ncube attempted to defuse the tension by excusing herself and rushing to the restroom. However, Ndlovu was unwilling to let the matter rest. She pursued Ncube, swiftly brandishing a knife and ruthlessly stabbing her buttocks twice in rapid succession, followed by a final stab to the thigh, leaving a lasting impact.

Bleeding profusely and in immense pain, Ncube collapsed to the ground, letting out a piercing scream for help. Taking advantage of the chaos, Ndlovu swiftly fled the scene, leaving behind a shocked crowd. Concerned bystanders promptly rushed Ncube to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.

Subsequently, Ndlovu was apprehended and brought before Kezi magistrate Busani Sibanda, where she faced assault charges. She pleaded guilty, leading to her conviction.

During sentencing, Magistrate Sibanda considered the severe nature of the attack, highlighting Ndlovu’s use of a dangerous weapon and the premeditated nature of her actions. Acknowledging the victim’s multiple stab wounds, the court sentenced Ndlovu to 18 months’ imprisonment. However, eight months of the sentence were suspended on the condition that she avoids committing a similar offence within the next five years. Additionally, the remaining ten months were suspended on the condition that she completes 350 hours of community service at White Water Primary School.

In her plea for leniency, Ndlovu revealed that she is the sole provider for her four minor children, aged between two and sixteen. She survives by fetching water for community members, earning a meagre US$5 per week.

Meanwhile, Ncube, in her victim impact statement, described the severe physical and emotional consequences of the attack. The injuries sustained to her buttocks have left her unable to sit or carry out her household chores properly. Moreover, she has incurred significant financial burdens due to medical expenses.
