Arrest made in Mashonaland East as 2-year-old allegedly rɑped
Police in Mashonaland East have apprehended a 28-year-old man from Marikopo village following accusations of ƨǝxuɑlly assaulting a 2-year-old girl.
According to reports, the child’s mother had left her sleeping in their bedroom before visiting a neighbour. Taking advantage of the situation, the suspect gained access to the bedroom and carried the girl to an abandoned structure where the rɑpe occurred.
Unexpectedly, the mother returned to the scene and caught the perpetrator in the act. Startled by her presence, the suspect ceased his actions and attempted to flee. However, vigilant villagers pursued and successfully apprehended him.
Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi, the police spokesperson for Mashonaland East province, confirmed the incident, stating, “The incident was reported at Dema police station and officers attended the scene. The suspect was arrested, while the minor was taken to Chitungwiza Hospital for medical attention.”
