Tragic Incident: Nine-year-old boy dies in dip tank accident
The rural community of Chenjiri in Zimbabwe’s Sanyati area is mourning the loss of a child after a drowning accident last week. Nine-year-old Alois Muputisi tragically lost his life after falling into a local dip tank while playing with friends.
Provincial Veterinary Services head Dr Thokozani Mswela told reporters that Alois was playing near the dip tank on Friday afternoon when the accident occurred.
The juvenile was buried on Saturday after police clearance.
Dip tanks, which are large pools of insecticide and chemicals, are used to treat cattle for ticks. However, they also pose a serious drowning risk to anyone who falls in.
