6 masked gunmen raid company, get away with US$42,000 cash, 3 laptops and 2 iPhones

In a recent incident in the Workington area, six gunmen carried out a brazen robbery at a company. The incident occurred this week, and the robbers managed to escape with a Honda Fit vehicle, approximately US$42,000 in cash, and various electrical gadgets.

The robbers, all wearing face masks, were armed with pistols and an okapi knife during the robbery. Police have since launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects involved.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, confirmed incident. He stated that the Mbare police are currently investigating the case. The robbery took place on January 31, 2024, at a company located on Honeyover Road in Workington, Harare.

According to Ass Comm Nyathi, the six unidentified suspects attacked a security guard before gaining entry into the company offices. Once inside, they stole US$42,000 in cash, as well as several items including an Apple Macbook Pro Laptop, a black jacket, two Samsung laptops, two iPhone cellphones, and a wallet.

After looting the premises, the robbers loaded the stolen items into the owner’s Honda Fit motor vehicle, registered under the number plate AEM 6499. They subsequently abandoned the vehicle along Nyashanu Road in Kambuzuma.

Assistant Commissioner Nyathi urged anyone with information regarding the incident to report it to the nearest police station.
