The police have arrested a 27-year-old man from Filabusi for allegedly killing his neighbour with a brick.

The incident occurred on January 28th at Nkundla Business Centre. According to police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena, the deceased, 29-year-old Ronald Khumalo, had an altercation with the suspect’s cousin Talent Moyo earlier in the evening.

Khumalo confronted Talent after seeing him harassing people with an axe. The two had a scuffle where Khumalo disarmed Talent and struck his hand with the axe. Talent then fled the scene.

Later, the suspect Melusi Moyo arrived at the business center armed with a spear. He confronted Khumalo about attacking his cousin Talent. Inspector Mangena said Melusi stabbed Khumalo on the hand with the spear before escaping into the darkness.

Melusi allegedly returned shortly after with a brick. He hurled it at Khumalo, who was taking shelter in a shop, hitting him in the forehead. Khumalo was rushed to Filabusi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Melusi has been arrested and is under investigation. The police spokesperson urged the public to resolve disputes peacefully and not take the law into their own hands. She also warned against carrying dangerous weapons in public places.
