In a heartbreaking incident, a 14-year-old girl named Yeukai Dandara passed away at Sally Mugabe Hospital in Harare. The young girl had given birth to twins just a week prior. Currently, her body is at the mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.

The shocking revelation is that Yeukai was impregnated by her 24-year-old nephew, Tatenda Zhanje. The matter had been kept secret following a family meeting. However, tensions have escalated between the Dandara and Zhanje families, with the former demanding compensation before they agree to bury Yeukai. Initially, they demanded US$1,500 but later reduced their request to one cow and seven goats.

Tragically, both of Yeukai’s parents passed away. According to a source, she had been ƨǝxuɑlly abused multiple times by Tatenda, resulting in the pregnancy while they were residing in Dandara village in Murehwa. In an attempt to conceal the incestuous relationship and pregnancy from the community, the pair relocated to Glenwood suburb in Harare.

“The two relocated to Glenwood suburb in Harare following a family meeting to conceal the incestuous affair and pregnancy from villagers.

“Tatenda found a part-time job as a loader in town, but he will struggle to look after the babies,” a source told H-Metro.

News of Yeukai’s untimely death has spread throughout Dandara village, and some residents have threatened to protest against the Zhanje family for turning a blind eye to Tatenda’s abuse of an orphan.

Speaking to H-Metro, Tatenda revealed that Yeukai had given birth to the twins via a C-section at Sally Mugabe Maternity Hospital. He mentioned that she did not display any complications after delivery. A post-mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow (today), after which Yeukai’s body will be taken for burial in Murehwa.

While the exact cause of Yeukai’s death remains unclear, the physical strain of pregnancy and childbirth can be particularly challenging for a young girl whose body is still developing. These factors may have contributed to complications. Additionally, the emotional burden of caring for infants while still being a child herself likely added to the difficulties she faced.
