On Wednesday, law enforcement authorities made a significant breakthrough when they arrested five individuals suspected of being involved in robbery activities at a security roadblock in Beitbridge. The arrests not only resulted in the capture of the suspects but also led to the recovery of a cache of weapons.
According to a statement by Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the national police spokesperson, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) successfully apprehended David Ncube (23), Marshal Gadzire (22), Simbarashe Madyise (37), Abel Ngwena (22), and Ashmore Kakono Mubayira (30). The suspects were found in possession of three pistols, 9mm ammunition, four okapi knives, two paper spray canisters, and 10 cigarettes containing prepared dagga.
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of David Ncube aged 23, Marshal Gadzire aged 22, Simbarashe Madyise aged 37, Abel Ngwena aged 22 and Ashmore Kakono Mubayira aged 30 for unlawful possession of three pistols, 9mm round, four okapi knives, two paper spray canisters and 10 cigarettes of prepared dagga at a security roadblock in Beitbridge on January 24, 2024,” he said.
