Harare magistrate Tafadzwa Miti has convicted two members of Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole on charges of inciting public violence.
The charges against Sikhala and Sithole stem from allegations that they shared videos encouraging their party supporters to avenge the death of Moreblessing Ali. Additionally, it is claimed that they hired trucks to transport party thugs from Epworth and neighbouring areas in Chitungwiza to Nyatsime.
According to the State, 20 families were left homeless following the violence, while 13 shops, six tuck-shops and vehicles were extensively damaged after CCC supporters ran amok, indiscriminately attacking residents of Nyatsime.
