In a distressing incident, a dispute between a couple regarding the unequal treatment of their children took a violent turn when the wife, Olliet Million (37), stabbed her husband twice in the ribs out of anger. The incident unfolded at their residence, house number 149 Phase 2 Eastview, and resulted in Million facing charges of attempted murder.
Appearing before Harare regional magistrate Mr Stanford Mambanje, Million was granted bail of US$50 and was remanded until February 15 for further proceedings.
The complainant in this case is Tichafara Madzimure. The prosecution, led by Mr Anesu Chirenje, alleged that on Monday around 2 pm, Million sent her child along with Madzimure’s child to request money for purchasing tomatoes from Madzimure’s workplace. Madzimure gave his child a candy, which greatly upset Million.
Incensed by what she perceived as unequal treatment, Million confronted Madzimure at his workplace, accusing him of favouritism towards the children. The couple then decided to return home in an attempt to resolve the issue.
According to court records, Million seized Madzimure by the neck and forcefully pushed him. In a fit of rage, she proceeded to grab a kitchen knife and stabbed her husband twice in the side, just below the ribcage. Neighbours intervened and provided assistance to Madzimure.
Subsequently, Madzimure reported the incident to the police, leading to Million’s arrest.
