Harare woman seeks peace order against boyfriend’s wife over death threats
A woman from Harare has taken legal action by applying for a peace order against her boyfriend’s wife, alleging that she has been subjected to death threats. Mavis Munenge has accused Lynette Machona, her boyfriend’s wife, of visiting her workplace and issuing menacing threats.
According to Mavis, the incident occurred on December 2 when Lynette allegedly confronted her at her workplace, making threats and claiming she was willing to face jail time for causing harm. Mavis informed Lynette that Kelvin, her boyfriend, had informed her that they were divorced. However, on December 9, Lynette returned to confront Mavis in the company of a friend.
She reportedly insulted and threatened Mavis, warning that she would consult a traditional healer in Gokwe if Mavis continued to date her husband. Lynette made yet another visit on December 13, informing Mavis that she had just returned from Gokwe.
Lynette, on the other hand, denied issuing any death threats but urged Mavis to stay away from her husband. She clarified that she is Kelvin’s current wife, not his ex-wife, and pleaded with Mavis to leave her husband alone and cease harassing her.
In response to Mavis’ application, Magistrate Tamari Chibindi granted the peace order, cautioning Lynette against approaching Mavis’ workplace.
