A church caretaker in Bulawayo is at the center of disturbing allegations involving the indecent assault of a 10-year-old girl and violent behaviour towards his wife. Kenneth Muzamba (53), employed as a caretaker at Methodist Church in Mzilikazi, appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Maxwell Ncube to face charges of indecent assault and physical abuse.
During the court proceedings, Muzamba pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was granted bail of US$100 and his case was adjourned until January 19.
The court heard that on an unspecified date in November last year, around 8:30 pm, Muzamba allegedly approached the young girl and requested her assistance in turning on the lights at the church. Trusting him, she accompanied him inside. Once inside the premises, he reportedly made unwanted advances, groping her breasts and buttocks before exposing his big manhood to her. Distressed, the girl managed to break free from his grasp and escaped, immediately reporting the incident to her sister. Together, they approached the police, resulting in Muzamba’s subsequent arrest.
In a separate incident on December 26, Muzamba’s wife, Thulani Mlotshwa (39), confronted him, accusing him of infidelity with multiple women. The situation quickly escalated when Muzamba allegedly grabbed her by the neck and forcefully pushed her against a wall. The assault resulted in Mlotshwa sustaining injuries to her head and collapsing. She was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The incident was reported to the authorities.
