In a harrowing incident at Beauty Mine cocktail bar in Mberengwa, a heated argument over a ƨǝx worker turned deadly. Farai Mapuranga, 24, engaged in a dispute with Simbarashe Chirume in the early hours of January 2.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident to NewsDay yesterday.
“It is alleged that at around 1am on January 2 Farai Mapuranga had an argument with Simbarashe Chirume over a lady of the night,” Mahoko said.
The altercation escalated when Chirume physically assaulted Mapuranga, and suddenly, another individual named Elliot emerged from one of the booking house rooms. Elliot grabbed a stone and struck Mapuranga twice on the head, while Chirume drew a knife from his pocket and stabbed Mapuranga twice before fleeing the scene. Mapuranga, staggering for approximately 80 meters, eventually collapsed and succumbed to his injuries.
Police promptly responded to the scene, and Chirume was later apprehended in connection with the incident.
