SO SAD: Haulage trucks wheels come off and kill doctor and police officer in separate incidents

In a devastating incident this afternoon, a medical doctor stationed at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital lost his life after being struck by a dislodged wheel from a haulage truck near Orange Grove along the Harare-Chirundu Highway.

The doctor, whose identity has been withheld, was tragically hit during the lunch hour as he made his way to collect his child from a daycare center located along the same highway. The incident has sent shockwaves through the medical community, leaving hospital staff and colleagues grief-stricken.

Efforts by The Herald to get a comment from provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Ian Kohwera were futile this afternoon although hospital staff confirmed the sad incident.

This comes a few days after a female police officer lost her life when a wheel dislodged from a moving truck and struck her while she stood by the roadside. The unfortunate accident occurred in a moment of tragic misfortune, leaving the police force and the community in mourning.

According to the police, the dedicated officer tragically passed away upon admission to the hospital. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the incident on Tuesday, shedding light on the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the officer’s untimely demise.

The incident unfolded at the 51-kilometer peg along the Harare-Mutare Road when a haulage truck, registered as ACZ 3265 and owned by Shereni Transport, experienced a wheel dislodgement from its trailer. The wheel, propelled by the truck’s momentum, struck the female police officer who was standing on the left side of the road. Despite immediate medical attention at Borradaile Hospital, her injuries proved fatal, leaving the entire police force and the community in shock and sorrow.
