Tragic collision on Harare-Bulawayo road claims four lives and leaves five injured
In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded on Thursday morning around 6:30 am, a fatal road traffic accident occurred at the 34km peg along the Harare-Bulawayo Road. The collision involved a Honda Fit vehicle and a Toyota Aqua vehicle, resulting in the loss of four lives and leaving five others injured.
According to a statement released by the police, the Honda Fit vehicle was being driven towards Bulawayo and had four passengers on board. Tragically, it collided head-on with the Toyota Aqua vehicle, which was travelling in the opposite direction and carrying three passengers. The impact of the collision was devastating, leading to the immediate loss of four lives. Three of the deceased were occupants of the Toyota Aqua, including the driver, while one person from the Honda Fit vehicle also lost their life on the spot.
“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 343 km peg along Harare-Bulawayo Road on 21/12/23 at around 0630 hours, where a motorist who was driving a Honda Fit vehicle with four passengers on board towards Bulawayo collided head-on with a Toyota Aqua vehicle which had three passengers and going the opposite direction. As a result of the collision, four people, three from the Toyota Aqua vehicle, including the driver and one from the Honda Fit vehicle, died on the spot while five others were injured. Names of victims will be released in due course,” reads the statement.
