Pedestrian robbed and stabbed by gang after being offered lift
In a disturbing incident that took place on 15th December 2023, a gang of five individuals offered a lift to an unsuspecting pedestrian but instead subjected him to a horrific robbery, leaving him injured and traumatized.
The incident occurred along Mutare Road near Ruwa, according to a statement released by the police.
The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was waiting at Simon Muzenda bus terminus in Harare’s CBD when the suspects, travelling in a Honda CRV vehicle, approached him with an offer of transportation to Mutare.
Once inside the vehicle, the situation took a sinister turn. The gang, armed with a knife, unleashed a brutal attack on the unsuspecting victim. They stabbed him multiple times on his thigh and back, inflicting severe injuries. Amidst the violence, the assailants callously robbed him of a substantial sum of US$14,035 in cash and also took his cellphone.
Following the incident, the Zimbabwean police have launched an urgent appeal for information that could lead to the swift capture of the suspects.
“Police in Harare are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a case of robbery which occurred on 15/12/23 along Mutare Road near Ruwa. Five unknown suspects travelling in a Honda CRV vehicle stabbed the complainant with a knife on the thigh and back several times before stealing US$14 035 cash and a cellphone.”
“The suspects had offered the complainant a lift from Simon Muzenda bus terminus, Harare CBD to Mutare. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station,” reads the statement.
