Desperate CCC faction allegedly plotting anarchy to destabilize peace in Zimbabwe
In the midst of ongoing recalls and a bitter defeat in the August elections, the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) faction, led by Nelson Chamisa, is reportedly planning to sow anarchy in an attempt to disrupt the country’s prevailing peace. The CCC, facing internal turmoil and numerous recalls of its Members of Parliament and councillors, is allegedly seeking to export its internal confusion to the nation, according to sources.
The party’s self-styled interim secretary-general, Sengezo Tshabangu, has already recalled several legislators and councillors. With more recalls on the horizon, loyal members of the CCC aligned with Chamisa are said to be in a state of uncertainty and are allegedly plotting sporadic demonstrations as a means to attract international attention.
The Sunday Mail has gathered that Chamisa’s CCC faction has been organizing meetings across various provinces, urging youths to participate in these demonstrations. Amos Chibaya, the party’s mobilizer, recently convened a provincial meeting in Belvedere, Harare, where he emphasized that the demonstrations would draw the attention of the international community. The aim is to precede Chamisa’s planned diplomatic offensive, which intends to garner international attention and criticize President Mnangagwa’s administration.
In Masvingo, Simon Ziki, another CCC member, is said to be mobilizing youths and planning visits to all 26 constituencies in the province. However, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, George Charamba, issued a stern warning, stating that those planning the demonstrations would face the full force of the law.
Charamba described the alleged actions of the CCC as premeditated violence, aimed at bolstering their leader’s efforts to undermine Zimbabwe through foreign intervention. He made it clear that such attempts would ultimately fail.
Promise Mkwananzi, the CCC spokesperson, denied the allegations of planning demonstrations when approached for comment.
The alleged plot by the CCC faction to incite anarchy and destabilize the peace in Zimbabwe has raised concerns. The government remains vigilant in maintaining law and order while emphasizing that any attempts to disrupt the country’s stability will be met with appropriate legal action.
