Hit-and-run incident leaves pedestrian injured as motorist evades capture
In a distressing incident, a pedestrian suffered head injuries after being struck by an unidentified motorist who fled the scene, leaving the victim in a vulnerable state.
The incident took place on December 2, 2023, along 12th Avenue Extension in Bulawayo, according to a statement released by the police.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was immediately rushed to the United Bulawayo Hospitals for urgent medical attention. Meanwhile, the Bulawayo Police have initiated an investigation into the case, seeking information from the public regarding the hit-and-run incident.
In their official statement, the police described the incident as a “serious hit-and-run road traffic accident.” They reported that an unknown motorist driving an unidentified vehicle struck the pedestrian and callously chose to flee the scene without stopping to render assistance or provide their details.
The injured pedestrian suffered head injuries. The prompt action by those present at the scene ensured the victim was swiftly transported to the United Bulawayo Hospitals, where medical professionals are working diligently to provide the necessary care.
“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a serious hit and run road traffic accident which occurred along 12th Avenue extension, Bulawayo on 02/12/23 in which a pedestrian was injured after he was hit by an unknown motorist who was driving an unknown motor vehicle.
“The motorist did not stop after the accident.
“The victim sustained some head injuries and was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals. Anyone with information to report at any nearest police station” reads the police statement.
