Tragic turn of events: Suspect in Marondera murder case dies in hospital

In a heart-wrenching development to a harrowing crime, a 26-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend in Marondera has passed away at Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital in Mutare.

Echfel Musaida Gora, who faced a murder charge, died just hours after his initial court appearance, leaving authorities and the community grappling with unanswered questions.

The incident unfolded when Gora allegedly stabbed his girlfriend, 29-year-old Sharon Mashowo, to death with an okapi knife following a heated disagreement in Nyameni, Marondera. After committing the devastating act, he callously locked her lifeless body inside his room before fleeing the scene.

Days later, Gora was found in Odzi, where he had taken desperate measures to end his own life by ingesting an unidentified poisonous substance. He was rushed to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital and was arrested on Monday after being positively identified while admitted.

The news of Gora’s sudden demise was confirmed by Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, the acting provincial police spokesperson in Manicaland. “We have been informed that he (Gora) died yesterday evening. We are awaiting post-mortem results,” stated Ass Insp Chinyoka.
