In a heartbreaking turn of events on Monday, a Toyota Hiace Kombi driver is currently on the run after hitting a pedestrian near Waterfall’s rank along Ardbenie Road, Mbare.
The victim sustained injuries to the leg and wrist in the unfortunate incident, which has prompted an investigation by the Harare police.
According to an official statement released by the police, the hit-and-run accident occurred on November 17, 2023. The pedestrian, whose identity remains undisclosed, was struck by the Toyota Hiace Kombi bearing the registration number ABG 0405. The driver of the vehicle callously fled the scene without stopping to render aid or report the incident.
“Police in Harare are investigating a hit-and-run road traffic accident that occurred along Ardbenie Road, Mbare on 17/11/23 in which a Toyota Hiace Kombi registration number ABG 0405 hit a pedestrian near Waterfall’s rank. The victim sustained some injuries on the leg and on the wrist. The driver did not stop after the accident,” reads the police statement.
